Something so right in a World Gone Wrong

Music Review of Black Valentine’s recent release World Gone Wrong

blackvalentine1_largeAvailable online at CDBaby, iTunes and Amazon

Music Review by Joseph Timmons: Xombiewoof Magazine

Find Black Valentine Online and on Facebook

World Gone Wrong is not just another Metal album of belligerent rants and dark demonic haze, nor is Black Valentine just another Metal band. The Black Valentine sound has a dynamic range and depth that can pack a venue in a blink and get the heart pumping. With a street cred that already has them in the public eye, they stand poised to make the music scene vibrant once more, serious art here no poser action, one word to describe Black Valentine… “REAL”!

11270488_1039645836053267_1857526071982760417_o

Black Valentine has been through the mire of the Hollywood music scene, paid their dues and has risen to the top of the indie metal scene with a kick ass take no prisoners approach, through it all they have the sound that is proof of their enigmatic and haunting presence and a sound that beckons and holds you steady. Black Valentine is Jeff Knemeyer, Frank Yanno, Chris Colovas and Jesse Wolff , all highly talented artists, yet together a powerhouse that demands respect.

Black Valentine is a true testament of perseverance, hard work, and dedication and the countless hours of writing and rehearsing has paid off on their debut album, World Gone Wrong. Drenched in attitude, these 13 tracks inject what has been missing from today’s rock scene. Emotions on the record range from aggression and anger to hurt and pain, from frustration and discontent to determination and resolve on diverse topics such as politics, the economy, religious corruption, and personal daily struggles. Each track literally screams what most of us have felt and thought - wrapped up in perfectly accessible and catchy Songs delivered with exceptional musicianship.

My favorite tracks on this epic collection are World Gone Wrong, Salvation Game, Sands of Time, Masquerade, Black Valentine and Breathe. I would like to say the entire album has a conquering presence, but these tracks stand out the most and offer a full look at the bands ability to go from one end of a music spectrum to the other with a flawless glide.

Check out this video for Masquerade and you will see and hear what I mean when I say glorious!

You can find Black Valentine at CdBaby, Amazon, iTunes and all the best online services, but you have to see them live, a true don’t miss experience!

Happy Black Valentine’s Day !

Album Review by Joseph Timmons – Xombiewoof Magazine

1002071_557301464308931_1080728869_nFrom the moment he stepped out on stage, dressed all in black and in his god given subtle yet ominous voice, he would start every show with “Hello, I'm Johnny Cash”, the living legend inspired and elevated the music world and made a path into immortality not just for himself, but all that would follow in his footsteps. Cash was a musician that many tried to imitate, and often failed to do so, a one of a kind with an elegance in style and stature that was truly one of a kind. There was and would be nobody that could give a performance that would come close to the great one.

Until Now  !

The Mighty Cash Cats are not a tribute band, they don’t claim to be a reincarnation or put on airs. Like the man himself, The Mighty Cash cats are the real deal, performing his music and the music of his day with a sincere realism and love for the memory of Johnny Cash and his beloved June. In this group the sights and sounds are channeled, one would get the feeling that they have ben whisked away back to the time when muscle cars were king, a soda pop was a dime and the poodle skirt was all the fashion.

946207_563471893691888_1886289561_nFronted by Michael J. Smith as Johnny Cash and Leticia Blumette as June Carter, they emulate the grace and love for both the music and the life of Johnny Cash, and in this album The Ballad of Johnny and June, they have selected works that follow a progression most awe inspiring. I am especially fond of their renditions of “it Ain’t Me Babe”, “Ghost Riders In The Sky”, “Hurt” and “Ring of Fire”. I would like to say though, the title track “The Ballad of Johnny and June” as a fun and jaunty hayride, telling the story of Cash’s start, Sun Records, His Love for June and his accomplishments.

The Mighty Cash Cats are phenomenal in their humble and honest portrayals, and where as Michael J. Smith and Leticia Blumette don’t appear or sound like they are trying to imitate the original Romeo and Juliette of Nashville, they are as real and humble to the stage as the soul mates they emulate.

I suggest you get this album, if you love the Music of Johnny Cash, you will love The Mighty Cash Cats, visit their website http://www.mightycashcats.com and their Facebook Page for more info, tour dates and where to get their new CD The Ballad of Johnny and June.
