Band Spotlight & Sound Review
CORE: West Virginia Indie Rockers make their move
West Virginia Rockers Shawn Wells, Jerry Hatfield and Christopher Bailey present themselves to the world as CORE, aptly named; this 3 piece unit creates a bluesy and edgy Hard Rock sound, looking to make a move in the music world.
I had the chance to check them out on their Reverb Nation Site http://www.reverbnation.com/corewv and gave a good listen to their offerings.
Before you think poorly of me, his review is NOT a Hack Job, as you know, I never say anything negative about a band, everyone has something to offer and I respect them all equally. Overall I found CORE and their music very good, they have a strong foundation and they have a great talent, songs are well written and the band has a chemistry that with the support of their growing fan base will carry them from coast to coast, playing the clubs and music halls that evoke the rock and roll life.
However, wherever they went to record their offerings needs to either buy a better mixer or send the mix tech back to school, the music was muddled and the drums, which were hot, were lost in the background, the vocals which has the right stuff sounded thin and lacked the heart that the vocalist obviously has, the guitars were undermined by the lack of range and overall, I advise you check them out live, they are a very good band with promise, but this studio set on their reverb nation page does not do them justice.
Get to CORE’s Facebook Page and check them out with my deepest admiration, Rock & Roll takes soul and this gang has allot of it.
You forgot our bassist, Crystal Hatfield! lol
