Legacy Recordings Releasing New Collection - The Essential James Taylor

Legacy Recordings is Releasing The Essential James Taylor, 5 Decades of Music in a Definitive 2Disc Collection, Tuesday, October 29th, 2013

james taylorNew Career-Spanning Anthology Is First To Give Equal Attention to Hit Recordings from Taylor's Warner Bros. and Columbia Records Catalogs

Legacy Recordings, the catalog division of Sony Music Entertainment, will release The Essential James Taylor in a 2-disc collection highlighting five decades of music, on Tuesday, October 29th, 2013.

The Essential James Taylor is the first 2CD anthology of biggest hits and greatest songs from the quintessential singer-songwriter spanning the full course of the artist's career. It is also the first James Taylor collection to provide equal focus on both his Warner Bros. and Columbia Records catalogs.

Inducted into both the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and the Songwriter's Hall of Fame in 2000, James Taylor is a five-time Grammy Award winner, with a host of hit records, beloved songs and a coveted RIAA Diamond Award to his credit.  He has sold more than 100 million albums worldwide.

Though his first album, James Taylor, was released on the Beatles' Apple Records label in 1968, it was his Warner Bros. debut, Sweet Baby James, released in 1970, that gave Taylor greater worldwide exposure.  Taylor's nuanced singing, songwriting and guitar-playing signaled the arrival of a new contemporary sound for an emerging new era.   The revolution and psychedelia of the 1960s had given way to a new pop sound and sensibility embodied in the songs of James Taylor.  His first Warner Bros. single, "Fire and Rain" was an immediate classic--a signature recording, sung with a sublime and understated intensity that became the first of Taylor's many hits.

His first #1 song, a cover of his friend Carole King's classic "You've Got a Friend," helped his second Warner Bros. album, Mud Slide Slim and the Blue Horizon reach #2 on the Billboard charts in 1970.  He recorded four subsequent Warner Bros. collections--One Man Dog, Walking Man, Gorilla, and In The Pocket and released the top-selling Greatest Hits--before signing with Columbia Records in 1977.

His first Columbia Records release, 1977's James Taylor was nominated for Grammy Album of the Year.

The Essential James Taylor will be available on Legacy Recordings in North America and South America.

CD Review: In The Name Of Freedom – Richie Onori’s Blues Messenger

292605_348366535224844_1043026838_nReview by Joseph Timmons: Xombiewoof Magazine

Richie Onori’s offering of old school rock and roll rhythms and gut busting guitar riffs blended with an “All American” salute to this great country is a rare treat today. When most artists try to find something wrong with the USA, he has found a place in our hearts where a fire and passion for old glory still burns strong.

All political opinions and no matter where you stand, one thing is evident, Richie Onori stands up and stands strong as the voice of a man with deep love and concern for his home and his nation. The musical component is strong in composition and has an 80’s rock feel, but is not old and dusty, it is modern, rich and vibrant. In addition to his obvious mastery of music, his voice captures the sentiment in his vocals and is a call to arms, not focusing blame on the establishment or the people of this great country, but has heartfelt opinion of what is the cause of the dilemmas facing us in these troubled times.

With songs like “Power to the People”, “Long Live Rock”, “In The Name Of Freedom” and “Come Together We’re the USA”, Onori poses a question, “where do you stand”, not to question loyalty, but asking ethical questions, while entertaining the notion that freedom is not free, and we may be slaves to the masters we created, in the government, in the Skyscrapers and on the TV sets we are hypnotized by.

A definitive album by a fabulous artist and true American Spirit, all politics aside this is an album to get, listen to and treasure. You can Find Richie Onori at https://www.facebook.com/richieonorimusic and at his website www.richieonori.com to get this Great American Anthem Album of 2014!

CD Review: elleeven-Her Wildcat Lovin’ Majesty

Her Wildcat Lovin’ Majesty is available on Hot Sauce Records, produced by Protégé, Anthony Lee, DJ Swamp and Ellee Ven- you can get it through the artist’s web site - http://www.elleeven.com

Her Wildcat Lovin’ Majesty by elleeven, is a wildly delicious mix of hip rhythms, house music blends and rapping hijinks that is enjoyable and downright thrilling!

Upbeat and perky, her voice is smooth, hypnotic, mesmerizing and sexy. The mixes on the tracks are flawless and have both street influenced textures and classic musical balance, some have rock oriented styling where others have euro-techno pop, but are not overplayed or overindulgent. This artist takes her music seriously, but makes it fun and bright. Some tracks have deep and mysterious undertones that draw you in, while others take you on a smooth soulful ride, I could not help bouncing to the beat and chair dancing while typing this review, the music is as beautiful as Ellee Ven herself, and she is hot!

I found myself particularly fond of the track “Here”, is it a love song? Is it a tormented and jilted lover’s cry or the song of a woman possessed by love? Either way, the song is way too short but oh so sweet and nails you, it lays you out.

The track “Time and Trial” reminds of the old spy movie theme songs that get you ready for a visual thrill ride of action and adventure, Her Wildcat Lovin’ Majesty does just that, get ready because this lady is going to take you out and make you scream…………for more!

CD Review: Wake Me Up by Star Off Machine

Wake Me Up by Star Off Machine

Wake Me Up by Star Off Machine is a bit of an enigma, meaning “why have I not heard this album, or this awesome band until now!”

Star Off Machine is a Musical Force that is a storm forthcoming and will lay to waste the LA Music scene. In the vein of musical dynamics and creative artistry, Star Off Machine, akin to their LA Compatriots, such as Heaven Below or Adler, Star Off Machine look to create Music with meaning and a message, and not drunken brawl recorded to CD.

Based out of Huntington Beach, California, band members Erick Holloway, Robin Charlet, Aaron Wilder and Greg Tuthill have created a perfect blend of Hard Rock, Ballad Metal, harmonic lyrics with soulful meaning and elegant composition.

I did some research and found out that they are not a new upstart band but have been well established and have a loyal following.

Here are some facts about them: Star Off Machine was honored and awarded “Best Hard Rock Band” and “Rock Group of the Year” at the prestigious Orange County Music Awards (OCMA) and the Los Angeles South Bay Music Awards (SBMA). Star Off Machine has shared the stage with the Sevendust, Saliva, Taproot and Marcy Playground with sights on more great line ups for future performances.

With influences of Breaking Benjamin, Incubus, Taproot, Sevendust, Chevelle, Foo Fighters, A Day to Remember and My Chemical Romance, Star Off Machine has not only the potential, but the destiny to be a new “super-group” that could break the infamous glass ceiling that the former legends of Rock have set as the Gold Record standards.

Best songs on this album, out of all the fantastic and well executed recordings to choose from are “Make Me”, Power Of One”, “Side of Me”, Left Behind” and of course, the title track “Wake Me Up”- Hard and Heavy with piercing vocals that drive the message of the music home, not one song a disappointment and every note memorable, this band is on the road to every collectors vault of music that will be instrumental in the future of Rock’s best independently produced albums of the year.
