THE BEST OF NEW ORLEANS' JAZZ RETURNS TO THE CLARK CENTER

Preservation Hall

Experience jazz straight from the heart and soul of New Orleans with the Preservation Hall Jazz Band at the Clark Center for the Performing Arts on Sunday, November 13, 2011 at 7:00pm.

Preservation Hall is not just a band, it's a cultural phenomenon. The Preservation Hall Jazz Band derives its name from Preservation Hall, the venerable music venue located in the heart of New Orleans' French Quarter where hundreds of thousands of people visit to experience an important element of the city's history - the music.

The Preservation Hall Jazz Band is referred to as a "bridge across the ages" - a link between the present day and the heyday of traditional New Orleans music. The group, which has been touring for more than 25 years, consists of musicians who range in age from 31-88 who work to preserve the New Orleans Jazz style.

Collectively, these musicians represent the industry's elite: a finely tuned band whose members hail from highly regarded musical families. Together, they keep alive the traditions and history of this uniquely American sound with tunes like "Bucket's Got a Hole in It," "Bill Bailey," "Little Liza Jane," "When the Saints Go Marching In" and many more.

Hailed as "The best jazz band in the land," the Preservation Hall Jazz Band is sure to present a high energy, crowd-satisfying performance that embodies the joyful, timeless spirit of the New Orleans' French Quarter on November 13 at 7pm.

Tickets for the Preservation Hall Jazz Band are $39-$48 and are on sale now. Call (805) 489-9444 for tickets or come to the Clark Center Box Office at 487 Fair Oaks Avenue, Arroyo Grande. Clark Center Association members may receive a discount for shows presented by the Association.
